The movie My Friend Dahmer details the experiences of John "Derf" Backderf and his friendship with the notorious serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer during their high school years, prior to Dahmer's killing spree. The film is based on Backderf's graphic novel of the same name. This movie poster aims to capture the young Dahmer and his detached and apathetic demeanor that is so apparent throughout the film.
I began with the illustration of Ross Lynch's portrayal of Dahmer. The expression in his eyes is what stood out most to me, so the portrait of Dahmer is the main focus of the poster. The halftone pattern in the background is a nod to the story's graphic novel origin.
